Knottingley-based Acumen Waste Services has completed the acquisition of Highspeed Group in a deal for an undisclosed sum.

Acumen, a provider of hazardous waste solutions, has acquired the business and assets of Highspeed including its subsidiary companies, staff, headquarters and waste transfer and treatment facility in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

"The acquisition of Highspeed will complement Acumen’s existing national waste management infrastructure and enable the company to continue to serve existing customers as well as developing new products and services," said Kris Sutton, finance director of Acumen, before adding: "Highspeed will be strengthened by the transaction and the same management team will be on hand to ensure a smooth transition with David Mears and Andrew Vincent being retained as consultants."

David Mears added: “Andy and I have developed the business over the last 16 years taking us into new markets and we wanted to ensure that any new owners would share our vision for the business and Acumen have demonstrated those shared goals. We can now look forward to our retirement in due course.”
