The Research HUB has been set up to fill a void in the organics recycling industry

R&D projects in the organics recycling industry will soon benefit from a new Research Hub set up by Renewable Energy Assurance (REAL).

Nicknamed The HUB, the new scheme will fund and support compost and digestate-related R&D projects considered important to the development of schemes administered by REAL.

It has been set up to “fill a void” in the organics recycling industry which is currently lacking support for new R&D projects.

The HUB will also make sure documents are kept up-to-date with technical and legislative developments in the industry and that when required, scientific evidence is funded to support changes to the documents.

Justyna Staff, head of the certification schemes at REAL, said: “REAL are keen to continue promoting the use of waste derived compost and digestate. The Research HUB will allow us to undertake vital analysis and technical projects to inform any future improvements as we ensure that the schemes are robust and fit for purpose.”
