Ryanair has announced it will go "plastic-free" by 2023.

The airline will switch to biodegradable cups, wooden cutlery and paper packaging onboard, as well as make all Ryanair head offices, bases and operations plastic free.

It will also introduce a voluntary climate charity donation for customers to offset the carbon cost of a flight.

Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair chief marketing officer, said: “We are very pleased to announce our Environmental plan which includes our commitment to eliminate all non-recyclable plastics from our operations over the next five years.”

Further details on the plan to go plastics free will be unveiled soon.
