Waste collection company Biowood Recycling has launched a smartphone app to improve administration across the sector.

Designed exclusively for Biowood’s network of over 50 haulage partners, the app will allow drivers and weighbridge operators to log and transmit weighbridge data, which will help cut the administration of paper-based weighbridge tickets and waste transfer notes.

It will also provide instant communication between drivers and staff at Biowood’s head office, which it hopes will speed up payments.

One of Biowood’s current haulage partners, Greenhaul, was among the first to trial the app.

Simon Lee, Greenhaul director, said: “A lot of our time is currently spent matching up tickets for processing and we are looking forward to using the app and gaining valuable time back.

“We will get our invoices paid faster whilst we have less paperwork to do.”

Initially released on the android platform, the Biowood App is free to download from Google Apps, with plans for a later version to be available on iOS.
