Nottinghamshire-based Collins Demolition have taken delivery of their first high reach machine – a Volvo EC 380E HR and a brand new Rotar RSS20 Scrap Shear.

This high reach machine comes fitted with a brand new Rotar RSS20 scrap shear. The new excavator and scrap shear's first job will be in Chester on a steel-framed building, three stories high and in the town centre.

The Volvo comes with full Volvo factory specifications. Its tool weight capacity is three tons and it has a 23m reach. With an extendable undercarriage and digging arm, which can be changed over to from the high reach arm, it also features a tiltable cab and is fully guarded with bolt-on side protection and water dust suppression.

Collins Demolition has excavators ranging from 6 to 75 tons. They are all Volvo, their preferred excavator manufacturer since 2004. To work with these they already have a range of Rotar grabs, shears and pulverisers, all purchased within the last five years from Worsley Plant, the UK-based attachment specialist.

According to Worsley Plant, this new piece of equipment gives the demolition specialist another string to their bow. Previously they hired in a high reach excavator if they needed one on a job.

Scott Craddock, director, Collins Demolition, said: Owning our own high reach strengthens our demolition offering and will help us to cut costs associated with hiring one in. We have also added to our range of Rotar attachments with the new scrap shear. We feel that the Rotar range are perfectly matched to our Volvo fleet, along with Volvo."
