Biffa’s 133 staff and 48 vehicles will continue to provide weekly household refuse collections, fortnightly household recycling collections, streets and beach cleansing services and a garden waste collection service.
Predicted cost savings delivered through the contract will allow the council to dedicate more resources to promoting recycling and tackling fly-tipping.
It will also allow the council’s project officer role, who educates residents about recycling, to remain in their position.
Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Arun’s cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: “Biffa is a trusted contractor which has provided the council with a consistent service for many years.
“Since being awarded the initial contract in November last year, Biffa has worked hard to keep refuse collections on time and our streets clean.”
